I just realised that the first album cover I created was way back in 2009. The band was also playing dark ambient, their name was ‘Heliophagia’. The first picture shows my original drawing, the second is how it was interpreted for the album ‘Isorropia’. ⠀ ⠀ In those days I rented a bed in a dorm room, I had no table to work from or cupboard to store clothes and my artworks. I drew on my knees making the best of what I had around me; it was always after a long working day. I wasn’t a full-time artist at this moment and so I was surprised to be offered this commission, which thankfully paid well. With my earnings, I bought a good pair of winter boots for the first time in my life. Before that, I went all year round in summer sneakers, freezing in minus 20. ⠀ ⠀ Now, looking back I see that it was these unexpected orders that pulled me from total poverty; somewhere I had lived since my childhood. ⠀ ⠀ It is each purchase of my work, an interesting commission and worthy payment that helps drive me towards a normal human existence. It is amazing of course that 10 years ago someone genuinely believed in my talent and placed their trust in me!
